Tubas
Section Leaders
Matan Marder Friedgood

My name is Matan and I am a senior studying Philosophy, Politics and Law, with a progressive Masters in Public Administration and is in my fourth year with the band.
I am from New York City, and came to USC largely because of the weather, and I’m happy to have found the TMB as a community where fun and music-making intersect. I not only serve as one of the Tuba section leaders, but I am also responsible for Electric Bass at Basketball games.
I’m a lifelong musician, with piano, voice, bass, and cello in my repertoire in addition to tuba. In my free time, I enjoys rooting for the best New York sports teams (Mets, Giants, Knicks), and outside of band am a leader at USC Hillel and co-music director of Reverse Osmosis A Capella.
My favorite memories with the TMB are the many travel opportunities, like supporting the football team at the Big House in Michigan, the Women’s Basketball team in Las Vegas on their way to becoming Pac-12 champions for the last time, and opening up the Washington DC satellite campus and performing at the Lincoln Memorial!
Travis Jackson

I will be a junior in school and a third year in the band this upcoming fall season. I’m from San Dimas, CA and I am studying Intelligence & Cyber Operations with a minor in Artificial Intelligence Applications.
Believe it or not, half the reason I came to USC was to join the TMB (the other half being for academics). After an inspiring 7th grade field trip to USC and years of high school marching band experience, joining the TMB was an easy choice for me. Fun Fact: Two of my previous band directors were also a part of the TMB during their time at USC, and I have them to thank for inspiring me to join this organization. Outside of school, I am most likely playing video games or sleeping.
So far, my favorite memories with the TMB involve the many section bonding moments that took place on and off the field.
