Tenor Saxes

Cora Sverdrup

Cora Sverdrup, 2023 Tenor sax section leader

Cora Sverdrup is a senior studying Environmental Studies and Anthropology. She is a fourth-year in the band and has marched tenor sax all throughout high school. Cora initially joined the band to not only share her love of music with others but also to meet a welcoming and supportive community of students. These same students would soon become some of her best friends!

Cora’s favorite memories with the band include the many travel experiences she had the opportunity to go on with her favorite people in the history of the universe: the tenors! One particularly memorable experience was searching for sea lions at the San Francisco pier on the band’s Weekender trip to play Stanford.

Outside of band, Cora conducts research as a scientific diver at USC and is an Undergraduate Assistant for the Wrigley Dive Program. In her free time, she loves to go surfing, hiking and taking photos. She also enjoys a good book, good food and exploring LA.

Bethany Reid

Bethany Reid, 2023 Tenor sax section leader

Hey y’all! My name is Bethany, and I’m from (nearish) New Orleans, Louisiana! 🦞 I’m currently a junior at USC, and my major is Global Health on a pre-med track.

I’ve been playing music basically all of my life, starting with the piano when I was in elementary school. I really enjoyed making music, so I began playing alto saxophone in middle school so that I could join my school’s band. I switched to playing tenor for two years in high school before joining the TMB as a tenor, which has been my first (and best) time in a marching band! I don’t think I can choose a favorite band memory—it’s all been such a wonderful experience so far! (Huge thanks to my dad for getting me join!!) ❤️💛

In my free time, I love reading, playing video games (especially Minecraft with the tenors!!), very rarely practicing the piano, and making Dunkin’ runs for blueberry matcha!! 😋 A fun fact about me is that I’m currently trying to catch up to One Piece, which has been super exciting, but also way too long!! Hopefully I’ll be caught up before I graduate…

Anyways, despite being so far from home, I’ve loved my time at USC and in LA in huge part because of the TMB and the amazing friends that I’ve met here. I’m super grateful for the fabulous time I’ve had so far, and I look forward to the upcoming season!! ✌🏽
