Dr. Jennifer Floyd

Travel Coordinator

Dr. Floyd had a very successful career teaching high school orchestra for sixteen years in Atlanta and adjudicating district and state-level festivals. During her tenure she served as a member of the Spivey Hall Board of Educators, Lead Teacher for High Schools, Cobb County Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council, GMEA All College Orchestra organizer and ASTA President. Under her leadership the Lovejoy Orchestra was selected to perform at the 2006 GMEA In-Service Conference, and the McEachern Orchestra at the 2016 ASTA National Orchestra Festival. She was named STAR Teacher of the Year in 2007, a 2017 Grammy Music Educator quarterfinalist, and the McEachern High School 2017-18 Teacher of the Year. She has presented sessions at the Midwest Clinic, Texas Orchestra Directors Association & Georgia Music Educators Association. She served as the Director of Music with the Heart of Los Angeles & the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2018-2019.

Floyd holds a Bachelor of Art & Bachelor of Music degree in music performance and education from Truman State University, a Master’s degree in music pedagogy/performance and teacher certification from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a doctorate in music education from the University of Georgia-Athens.

Her professional affiliations include Sigma Alpha Iota, American String Teacher Association & Georgia Music Educators Association.

In addition to being a passionate educator she frequently performs throughout Georgia, Florida, Alabama and Los Angeles. Her recent performances include, but are not limited to, Lizzo (Grammys), H.E.R. (People’s Choice Awards), Celeste (Oscars), Nas (Untitled Album), Andra Day, Halley & Chloe Bailey, Gabriels (Jimmy Kimmel), LA Kings, One Republic, Blind Boys of Alabama, Temptations (Review), Robin Thicke, India Arie, Bo Bice, Leann Rimes, Ruben Studdard, Jennifer Holiday, Tye Tribbett, Mary Mary, Resound, Shelby 5, Kim Burrell, Shelia E, JJ Hairston and a TV appearance on Drop Dead Diva and the Kelly Clarkson Show. Dr. Floyd resides in Los Angeles and is thrilled to be the Senior Coordinator of Travel and Concerts for the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band.
