Dr. Jennifer Floyd

Travel Coordinator

Dr. Floyd lives in Los Angeles and holds the position of Senior Coordinator of Travel and Concerts for the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band.

She previously enjoyed a distinguished sixteen-year career as a high school orchestra director in Atlanta, where she also adjudicated district and state festivals. Throughout her tenure, she held several key leadership roles, including serving on the Spivey Hall Board of Educators, as Lead Teacher for High Schools, on the Cobb County Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council, as organizer of the GMEA All College Orchestra, and as President of ASTA.

Under her leadership, the Lovejoy Orchestra performed at the 2006 GMEA In-Service Conference, and the McEachern Orchestra was selected for the 2016 ASTA National Orchestra Festival. Her contributions to music education earned her numerous accolades, including STAR Teacher of the Year in 2007, recognition as a 2017 Grammy Music Educator Award quarterfinalist, and McEachern High School Teacher of the Year for 2017–2018. She has also presented at prominent conferences such as the Midwest Clinic, the Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and the Georgia Music Educators Association. In 2018–2019, she served as Director of Music for the Heart of Los Angeles in collaboration with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Dr. Floyd earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Music in performance and education from Truman State University. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in music pedagogy and performance, along with teacher certification, at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and later received her doctorate in music education from the University of Georgia in Athens.

Her professional affiliations include the Recording Academy, GRAMMY U mentorship program, Sigma Alpha Iota, American String Teacher Association & Georgia Music Educators Association.

In addition to being a passionate educator she’s an accomplished violinist that has performed throughout Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Los Angeles, and Australia. Her recent performances include, but are not limited to, Giveon (Coachella), Jeezy (Las Vegas Residency), Lizzo (Grammys), H.E.R. (People’s Choice Awards), Celeste (Oscars), Nas (Untitled Album), Andra Day, Halley & Chloe Bailey, Gabriels (Jimmy Kimmel), Patti Labelle (Hollywood Bowl), One Republic, Blind Boys of Alabama, Temptations (Review), Robin Thicke, India Arie, Bo Bice, Leann Rimes, Ruben Studdard, Jennifer Holiday, Tye Tribbett, Mary Mary, Resound, Shelby 5, Kim Burrell, Shelia E, JJ Hairston, Miles Caton, Diane Warren, Raphael Saadiq, a TV appearance on Drop Dead Diva and the Kelly Clarkson Show.
