Trumpets

Section Leaders

Xavier Ramirez

Hi! My name is Xavier Ramirez and I’m a Public Relations and Advertising major from Ventura, CA!

When I was deciding on a college, USC stood out to me for all the right reasons: I loved that I could pursue all of my different interests different on campus, study public relations at an incredible school, and still keep music as a huge part of my life through the Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe (ever!).

I still remember hearing the TMB at my admitted students event and instantly feeling the spirit and energy they bring to campus. You could tell every single person genuinely loved what they were doing, and I walked away thinking, “I need to be a part of this.” Looking ahead to my final year in the band and as a section leader, I couldn’t be more excited to help create those same moments for new members.

Outside of the TMB, I’m a tour guide & trainer in the USC Admission Center, and involved in other clubs on campus as well. During my free time, I enjoy hiking, trying out new food recipes, and playing board games.

There are so many great memories I’ve had because of the band but one of my favorite memories was performing pregame in the Coliseum for the first time and hearing the crowd go wild when we spelt out “USC” on the field. It’s a moment I’ll always remember. Outside of playing at a variety of sporting events, I’ve had the chance to perform at numerous off campus gigs, such as the World Premiere of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the World Expo in Osaka Japan, and even a movie recording gig!

Feel free to reach out to us using the email at the top of the page if you’re interested in joining the TMB Trumpets or if you have any questions.

Evelyn Franco

Hi everyone! My name is Evelyn Franco, and I’m from Yorba Linda, California. I’m a senior studying Public Policy, and while this is my fourth year in the TMB, I get to stick around for one more football season thanks to the Master of Public Administration progressive degree I’m pursuing! Oh yay!

I started playing the trumpet in the 5th grade, and since then, I’ve explored different genres of music like jazz and mariachi. I also formed my own philanthropic jazz band during my junior year of high school. I’ve always had a passion for music, and when I found out I could continue playing in college, I knew I needed to join the greatest marching band in the history of the universe (ever)! I chose to attend USC because of the support and encouragement from my aunt who earned her MBA from USC, her Trojan family, and the alumni network, who have become my Trojan family too! It’s always a highlight for me to perform with the TMB knowing my parents and Trojan family are there cheering me on! Coming here has been one of the best decisions of my life, and I truly have added to my own Trojan family through the TMB and other school clubs and programs.

One of my favorite memories, though I have many, was when we went to the Cotton Bowl my freshman year. Traveling with the band was such a bonding experience for me, especially when looking at the trip in a broader perspective. There won’t be many times where I get to travel to a new place with more than 30 friends at once, and I am grateful for every trip I’ve been on with the TMB. Some of the other great opportunities I’ve had are playing at the Hollywood Bowl with musical groups and artists, performing for Netflix’s Unfinished Beef in Las Vegas, playing at the ESPY Awards this year, traveling to Japan this summer, and so many more that would make this list too long.

Outside of the TMB, this is my second year serving as the President of Mariachi Los Troyanos de USC, which has performed with the TMB on multiple occasions, and have served as the Strategy Analyst for the last three years for USC’s chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta First Year Honor Society. I also studied abroad in Italy for a Maymester through the Gerontology School and was part of the first cohort of the Price in D.C. program and interned for a Congressman on Capitol Hill! USC truly has endless opportunities for everyone, and you can be in the TMB and still take advantage of those opportunities! Did I mention no experience necessary? We’ll teach you everything you need to get performance ready!

With all of that being said, please reach out if you’re interested in joining the TMB trumpets or if you have any questions!
