Jackson Glover
Hello people!! My name is Jackson Glover and I am a rising senior both in school and in band! I am currently studying Human Biology on the pre-dental track with a minor in Occupational Science. I would consider myself a social butterfly, so I love to laugh with my friends and meet new people. Some of my other favorite activities are playing board games, watching movies, and keeping up with reality TV shows. I am from southwestern Illinois, and when I was choosing where to go to college, I knew I wanted to go far away from home to grow as a person and to fully start a new chapter in my life.
I chose USC because of its academic reputation and its location in the cultural melting pot that is Los Angeles. I have been playing the alto saxophone for just over a decade now, so it only made sense to join the Greatest Marching Band in the History of the Universe (EVER!) and I have never looked back.
I have made so many amazing memories through this program, but my favorite was definitely going on the trip to San Francisco my freshman year and seeing the city with my friends!
Aurora Contreras-Piñera
Hello! My name is Aurora Contreras-Piñera and I’m a rising senior at USC and in the Trojan Marching Band. I’m double majoring in Astronomy and Journalism, with a minor in French!
I’m from south-central Pennsylvania, near Gettysburg (I know a lot of Civil War facts!). My family is full of musicians, so I was forced into choir, orchestra, and concert band throughout middle and high school. Ironically, I hated playing the alto, but after two short years in my high school’s marching band, I fell in love with it!
Other than being a member of TGMBITHOTU (ever), I decided to attend USC because the university encourages interdisciplinary studies, so I knew that I would have a space to explore all my academic interests! I love being part of the TMB because at every rehearsal and game day, I feel like I am part of something bigger than myself and I have truly found my second family with the Altos. Prior to becoming section leader, I served as a squad leader for two years and currently serve as the TMB Alto co-social media manager.
The USC vs. Penn State home game on my 20th birthday has been by far my favorite TMB memory! My family flew in to spend the weekend with me and saw the band perform for the first time. Although the game did not end the way we wanted 🙁 it was still an incredible experience spending the day with my best friends, playing music, and watching USC football!
When I am not at a band rehearsal or studying in the band lounge, you can find me performing in student musicals, watching movies, reading a book, or writing science articles. Thanks and Fight On!
